Medical History

Hector started showing signs of his allergies as a puppy. He licked his paws obsessively. I slowly trained that out of him, but he just over time transferred it to his belly.

We have treated the topical issues a number of times, and treated the itching symptomatically, but I agree with the assessment that we haven’t solved the underlying allergy.

He is extremely reactive to cones, both fixed and inflatable. He will tolerate it for 12-24 hours but absolutely no longer.

Previous protein isolation experiments have indicated that he reacts poorly to fish/seafood in particular.

He was sedated twice: the first time at City Vet for neutering in 2013, and the second time in Aspen, Colorado in 2022, when he broke a tooth and required dental surgery. A few teeth were removed; the problem was solved but again he did not react well to the experience.
